Good Tunes From the Week of December 26, 2006

December has not seen the release of many albums, so here’s a short one:

Mogwai put out a shitty album earlier this year, so I was kinda surprised to see Zidane: A 21st Century Poet. Especially since the earlier album sucked and the first song on this one called “Black Spider,” kicks some serious ass. So you really get the idea that you’re in for something good. Not the case, Mogwai still sucks. Even the second part of “Black Spider” that shows up towards the end of the album blows. This just goes to show you that you shouldn’t judge an entire album by one song.

Mogwai – Black Spider

Mos Def is one of the best. So pay attention to Tru3 Magic. Otherwise you just ain’t worth a shit. And as an added plus, this is a dramatic departure of all the mainstream rap I’ve been showing you fucks.

Mos Def – U R the One

Mos Def - Crime and Medicine

Mos Def – Dollar Day (Surprise Surprise)

Mos Def - Perfect Timing

Mos Def – Lifetime

Nick Oliveri and Mondo Generator’s album Dead Planet was a real let down. You all know Nick Oliveri from Queens of the Stone Age, Kyuss, and from a short stint with The Dwarves. You know, the bald guy with the ugly ass facial hair. Yep… anyhow, he can’t cut it on his own. Get back with Josh Homme, no matter what you have to do fella. Or just quit, either way is fine with me. One song worth mentioning:

Nick Oliveri and Mondo Generator – Mental Hell

Good Tunes From the Week of December 19, 2006

Another week of rap, will you guys ever forgive me? It’s not my fault that the ROCK has disappeared.

First album that I listened to this week is called Wild Feast, and it’s by a group called Child Bite. I like the name, but I have to say that this band is really terrible. But,,,,,, I happen to fucking love this one song!!! It tears my soul apart. Jess thinks they sound like Mindless Self Indulgence, I think they sound like a bunch of hipster ass-choads. Listen to the god damn jam sweet-cakes.

Child Bite - Bone/Sleep

The Pack ain’t but a one hit wonder, I rectum. I heard “Vans” about 3 months ago and fell in love with it, and that’s the only song I could even find by these guys. But now they’ve released their first EP Skateboards To Scrapers, and most of it focuses on more of the bullshit “bling bling” rap, but they do it better than all these other fucks. I actually like most of it. There is a remix of “Vans” on this mother fucker with verses by Too Short (I hate Too Short) and Mistah FAB (I don’t know who he is?), but this version is useless and shouldn’t have been included on the EP. And the Pussy Pop Song down there is not the name of the song. I have no idea what the song is actually called, but it is a song about popping pussies, and who am I to argue with that?

The Pack – Vans

The Pack – I’m Shinin’

The Pack – Oh Go

The Pack – Pussy Pop Song

Nas’ Hip Hop Is Dead. Not as good as Jay-Z’s Kingdom Come. HAHA. I thought it would be better than it is. That’s not to say it’s bad though, because it’s not bad. It just isn’t what I expected it to be, blah. Redundancy, I’m good at it. Ok, here are the best tracks. “Shine On Em” is on the Blood Diamond soundtrack. I guess it comes with this album if you buy it on itunes.

Nas Featuring Will.I.Am – Hip Hop Is Dead

Nas – Shine On Em

Nas – Money Over Bullshit

Nas Featuring Jay-Z – Black Republican

Nas Featuring Kanye West – Still Dreaming

Ok, here’s another band. They’re called Those Transatlantics and the album is called Knocked Out. I ain’t really diggin’ it. It’s a little fruity, but you ladies might give it a go and see what you think. Here’s a song that I could stand, see what you think

Those Transatlantics – Wendy

Poor Trick Daddy, his new album Back By Thug Demand sucked asshole. Dammit to hell….

Good Tunes From the Week of December 12, 2006

most importantly, today is my little Marin's first birthday. i remember one year ago today, my unlucky baby was born. i say unlucky because she was born on the 13th day at the 13th minute of the 13th hour in December (the closest you can get to 13, HAHA). of course, i don't really think my little girl is unlucky, i think she is the greatest thing in all the world. so yep, for one year i have been in love...

on with the reviews.

Jarvis Cocker was the frontman for Pulp, the band famous for the song "Common People." a song that you should all listen to. i think i'm going to put a version of "Common People" up that was done by William Shatner, Ben Folds, and Joe Jackson on Shatner's Has Been. i don't know why, but i feel the need to do so. i actually found a video of them all performing the song on Leno. it's a great performance, so watch it. and if you don't know who Joe Jackson is, it's time you figured it out. but anyway, this new Jarvis Cocker album let me down. it's called Jarvis by the way. well, it didn't actually let me down, cause i basically knew that i wouldn't like it, but i hoped it would surprise me. so it ended up letting me down by not surprising me. i'm mad at it. but i do like two songs, and here they are for you bastiches. "Fat Children" is a funny one, so listen up. i'm also going to post a song that Jarvis Cocker released earlier this year, it's called "Cunts Are Still Running the World." pretty song.

this is a good song, i'll post an mp3 of Jarvis' song and i'll also post a video of Jarvis performing the song with Nancy Sinatra singing it. but i'll warn you, the mp3 is much much much better.

Jarvis Cocker - Don't Let Him Waste Your Time

another one with a performance and an mp3, the performance is good, but you should give the mp3 a listen as well

Jarvis Cocker - Fat Children

Jarvis Cocker - Cunt's Are Still Running the World

William Shatner, Joe Jackson, and Ben Folds - Common People

Ghostface has been slacking a bit on his last couple of albums. earlier this year he released Fishscales, an album that i was excited about, but it ended up lacking anything to set it apart from all the other bullshit that's been coming out. but here he is with the sequel More Fish, and it's not much better. you don't want to run out and buy the whole damn thing, but i'll post a few tracks that i liked off of this mediocre album. pay special attention to "Outta Town Shit," which is easily the best song on here. and don't ignore "Street Opera" featuring Sun God, because Sun God is actually Ghostface's son. how about that tidbit of useless knowledge. but in the low moment of the album, i was pretty pissed because my main man Kanye West is featured on a remix of "Back Like That," along with that choad-hole Ne-Yo. the song just simply ain't worth a shit. Kanye also showed up on a Young Jeezy track this week, it sucked as well..... sooooooooo check out these ditties.

Ghostface Killah - Ghost Is Back

Ghostface Killah - Outta Town Shit

Ghostface Killah Featuring Sun God - Street Opera

Ghostface Killah Featuring Sheek Louch - Blue Armor

Ghostface Killah Featuring Amy Winehouse - You Know I'm No Good

Geffen should be destroyed for putting out Sonic Youth's Destroyed Room: B-Sides and Rarities. Sonic Youth is a great band... when they're not being artsy fartsy. this is an embarrasment, especially since it came out shortly after their album Rather Ripped, one of the best albums to come out this year. i haven't heard much worse than this....pure shit. i'll give you a dollar if you legitimately like it, but i'll call you a liar if you try and claim it. so don't bother. "Diamond Sea" doesn't count either, cause this is only an extended version, and i don't believe in extended versions.

Tenacious D - Kickapoo

Tenacious D - The Metal

Good Tunes From the Week of December 5, 2006

well shit, another week of crappy music. there ended up being about a handful of decent songs, none of them representing the rock!!! these new blogs are making me out to be something that im not. i do not only like rap, HAHA. it just so happens that the only people putting anything listenable out are rappers. ya heard me? and i don't even like Gwen Stefani at all, but for some reason i'm diggin' on a couple of them shits. i'm a sad bastard. leave it alone.

so i'm going to start with the official Shady Records mix-tape "Eminem Presents The Re-Up". it's a compilation aimed at showing off some of the new talent that Eminem's Shady Records has picked up over the last little bit. the two new rappers are known as Cashis and Bobby Creekwater. Cashis fits, but Bobby Creekwater? he just ain't cuttin' it. so yeah, the best tracks on this compilation are the ones featuring the seasoned veterans. avoid songs featuring members of D12, it's hard to take Bizarre seriously since he cried on Punk'd and showed us what a lazy ass he was on Celebrity Fit Club. as an album, this deserves to be ignored, but a few of the tracks are keepers. so i'll post a video for "You Don't Know" and i'll post links to a few of the better songs on the album.

50 Cent, Eminem, Cashis, and Lloyd Banks - You Don't Know

Eminem and 50 Cent - Jimmy Crack Corn

Eminem - Public Enemy # 1

50 Cent - Ski Mask Way Remix

Nate Dogg, Eminem, Obie Trice, and Bobby Creekwater - Shake That (Remix)

Eminem - No Apologies

next up is Gwen Stefani's piece of shit "The Sweet Escape." ordinarily, i wouldn't even admit to liking the two songs that i am regrettably rocking, but i'm feeling honest today and i just don't give a fuck!!!! i sound like Ruth, it's all this rap getting to me. but yeah, i won't embarass myself explaining why i like these songs, just listen to them and then give me shit. it won't hurt me.

Gwen Stefani - Wind It Up

Gwen Stefani Featuring Akon - The Sweet Escape

and last, and definitely the least, Lil Scrappy's "Bred 2 Die, Born 2 Live". 50 Cent is one of the executive producers of this album, along with Lil Jon. so i don't know if Lil Scrappy is part of G Unit yet, but im sure he will be. i guess he's not yet, because if he were the album would be overloaded with 50 Cent and his entire crew rapping on every track (have you noticed how they steal people's albums, and rappers are willing to let them just to be a part of G Unit... more record sales, ya know), and 50 only raps on one track on this record. anyhow, this album is ridiculous. party rap is the worst. but i love these two songs and there's a hilarious skit on here. watch the fucking explosion in the video, HAHA!!!

Lil Scrappy Featuring Lil Jon - Gangsta Gangsta

Lil Scrappy Featuring Three Six Mafia - Posted In The Club

Lil Scrappy Featuring Nook - The Situation

HAHAHA, you folks are gonna get the wrong idea about me

Music on TV sluts

Couldn't find the TV performance, but The Silversun Pickups were on Letterman
last night and here's a video of their song "Kissing Families"

Silversun Pickups - Kissing Families

and here's another video by The Rapture, i don't even like these guys that
much, anyhow.....

The Rapture - Whoo Alright Yeah

sorry i couldn't find any of the performances.

Videos That Will Rock Your Socks Off

i guess this is just another thing that i'm going to start doing. i'm gonna put up videos of performances on TV from the night before. who knows if i'll be able to find everything i'm looking for, but i'll post what i can:

This is My Morning Jacket doing "What A Wonderful Man He Was" on Conan last night. Jim James is sounding a bit worn out, but it's still a good performance. about 1:30 into the video, they get a good little jam going. so wait for that!!

My Morning Jacket - What A Wonderful Man He Was

Here's another band i love, Sparta!!! one of the bands that At The Drive In split into. unfortunately, i couldn't find the actual performance from Craig Ferguson last night, so i'll just post the music video of the song they performed. it's called "Taking Back Control." also, this reminded me of a kick-ass performance that Sparta did on Letterman a while back and i'm gonna post that too. if you're only gonna watch one of these Sparta videos, watch "Breaking the Broken" from Letterman. it's the best of the two, and you can also see one of my celebrity crushes up close and personal, Jim Ward (singer.) he's so dreamy, HAHA. nah, "I wouldn't trade what i got, not for anything, not for anything at all!!!"

Sparta - Taking Back Control

Sparta - Breaking the Broken
